Tjmaxx Credit Card Benefits And Reviews

If you’re a budget-conscious fashionista (or just have a lot of kids to clothe), T.J. Maxx credit cards might be appealing. The TJX Rewards® Platinum Mastercard® can be used everywhere, whereas the TJX Rewards® Credit Card is only valid in-store.

You might think that since neither card has an annual charge, it’s practically free rewards. That’s mostly true, but as our T.J. Maxx credit card review shows, these cards are a bit of a tired tchotchke for most people. If you’re adept at saving money on your outfit, you’re likely to save money on your wallet. This article explains Tjmaxx Credit Card Benefits And Reviews.

T.J. Maxx Credit Card Benefits

Good return on TJX brand purchases: A 5 percent TJX Rewards Certificate is earned for each card. This is comparable to some of the top cash back credit cards.

Earn points from several brands: T.J. Maxx cards work at Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra (previously Sierra Trading Post), and Homesense locations. These are fantastic stores for bargain hunters.

Easily redeemable rewards: These cards provide one of the simplest rewards redemption choices. Instead of dealing with external accounts or debit cards, you’ll receive a Rewards Certificate with your monthly bill. If you don’t have enough points, they’ll roll over till you do.

No annual fee: No yearly fee on these cards. That’s a good thing, given the drawbacks.

Considerations

* For a superior all-around card, the Chase Freedom Limitless® offers most cardholders unlimited 1.5 percent cash back. The card also comes with a substantial sign-up bonus and an extended 0% intro APR deal.

* To earn cash back while paying off debt, the Discover it® Cash Back card gives up to 5% cash back in quarterly categories you choose. Even better, it comes with a 15-month 0% start APR offer to help you pay off debt. After the introductory 0% APR, the variable rate kicks in.

How to enhance

Application: One application for both cards. You don’t get to pick which one to apply for; you fill out the form and wait to see what they offer. If you want the TJX Rewards® Platinum Mastercard® but only get the TJX Rewards® Credit Card, you’ve just added another credit inquiry to your report and perhaps lowered your credit score.

Poor non-TJX earnings rate: The TJX Rewards® Credit Card can only be used in TJX stores. Other than that, you should avoid using the TJX Rewards® Platinum Mastercard® if you have other rewards options. Because non-TJX purchases only get 1 point per dollar.

Use of rewards: Please note that your Rewards Certificates can only be used for these products. No cash back or gift cards, just discounts on T.J. Maxx brands.

Rewards Certificates: It’s good that the corporation instantly pays you. However, each Rewards Certificate has a two-year expiration date, so you must use them regularly. Withdraw your prizes and go on a mega-shopping spree.

High interest rate: Avoid this card if you want to carry a balance. Paying down your balance each month avoids paying interest. The alternative is an astronomical interest rate. Financing your clothes or other purchases using a credit card with a low interest rate or a 0% intro APR is ideal.

No 0% introductory APR: These cards don’t have any 0% intro APR offers. Normally, when you open a retail credit card, you’re offered a reduced financing option, but not this one. Another reason to never use this card’s balance.

Bad perks: It’s also usual for retail cards to lure you with a big sign-up bonus, privileges, or other niceties. Don’t get us wrong: T.J. Maxx cards have benefits, but they’re not as flashy as we’d like. The sole perks are a 10% discount on your first purchase and access to “special exclusive shopping events.” T.J. Maxx should do better.

A typical credit card program that matches the high rewards rate on TJX purchases is improbable, unless it’s part of a limited-time rotating bonus category.

While the TJX Rewards® Platinum Mastercard® can be used outside of TJX stores, the rewards rate isn’t as high as other cash back and travel rewards credit cards. Not to mention the exorbitant APR.

These cards are exclusively valid at TJX stores and websites. The cash back will be wiped out by interest charges if you don’t pay down your debt in full each month. If you don’t shop at TJX often or plan to carry a balance, you’re better off with a regular credit card.
