Banks in Nigeria are classified according to their various authorization.

In Nigeria, there are three choices available. Namely  National authorization, Regional authorization, and international authorization.

Banks with National authorization operate solely inside the country they are set. They’re allowed to hold out operations in numerous states of the country.

Commercial banks with national authorization in Nigeria are:

Standard Chartered, Citibank Nigeria Limited, Polaris Bank Limited, Ecobank Nigeria Plc, Keystone Bank Limited, Titan Trust Bank Limited, Heritage Banking Company Limited, Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc, Unity Bank Plc, Wema Bank Plc and Sterling Bank Plc.

Banks with regional authorization are commercial banks that operate solely inside the State they are set.

There are simply three banks that operate with this authorization 

That is SunTrust Bank Nigeria Limited, Globus Bank Limited and Providus Bank Limited.

Banks with International authorization operate inside the international community and that they are able to perform transactions from one nation to a different.

Banks that have this authorization include First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Access Bank Plc, United Bank for Africa Plc, Fidelity Bank Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, First City Monument Bank Limited, Zenith Bank Plc and Union Bank of Nigeria Plc.
